What is

thyssenkrupp Elevator’s Americas Business Unit is bringing together many of our decentralized North American business and corporate functions to create a new headquarters in Atlanta, complete with a new, state-of-the-art test tower.

Are employees

Moving is a big decision and is not one we took lightly. We want our employees to move with us, but we understand for some, it just won’t be possible. We’re working closely with all our team members to communicate their options and to provide the resources they need to make the best decision for them and their families. Treating our valued employees with respect throughout the transition is a top priority.

Why is this relocation happening?

The new headquarters is part of our broader strategy to provide quality solutions to customers, better communication and collaboration in our operations and create a great place to work for our employees. By bringing together the various teams, we will create synergies and streamline many of our corporate functions. Additionally, the move presents us with a substantial opportunity to grow market share and market leadership position.

When will the new headquarters open?

Construction on the facility will start this fall and we anticipate completion by 2022.

What will the headquarters
look like?

Our new state-of-the-art headquarters in Atlanta will be a world class showplace for our employees and our customers.

  • It will include high-tech meeting spaces, a digital showroom and a new software lab. It will also feature a number of modern employee services like a café, several collaboration spaces, a wellness center, a gym and greenspaces.
  • Our Innovation and Qualification Center (IQC) will be the area's tallest building and stand 420 feet tall. It will include a product showroom, presentation, event and experience spaces, qualification lab and our state-of-the-art test tower. This test tower will include 10 mid-rise shafts, two passenger elevators, two TWIN elevators with panoramic views and a number of low-rise elevators all aimed at making us the most innovative elevator company in the world. It will also be designed to accommodate a future MULTI installation.
  • Our Corporate Headquarters (CHQ) will be 155,000 square-feet and home to our executive team and corporate functions., engineering office and training facilities.
  • Business Headquarters (BHQ) will be 80,000 square-feet and home to our shared service and administrative functions. It will be a quick 10-minute walk to our CHQ and IQC, conveniently located just across the pedestrian bridge.

How was Atlanta selected?

We considered a number of cities but ultimately Atlanta rose to the top. The city offers our employees quality-of-life opportunities so they can have a great environment at work and at home. Atlanta is a great place for families and friends with lots of parks, tight-knit communities and neighborhoods, easy access to prime vacation spots, a strong educational system with abundant scholarships, a number of professional sports teams and a vibrant cultural scene. It is a world-class city with a vibrant economy, is home to several Fortune 100 companies and is among the fastest-growing cities in the country. It’s world-class universities will help us build a strong pipeline of emerging talent and fuel our future workforce, which is critical as we tackle our industry’s next big challenges.

In addition, we currently maintain a presence in Alpharetta, downtown Atlanta and Kennesaw, and we will be able to leverage existing infrastructure throughout the transition.

will be affected?

About 900.

Will all relocated
roles be offered relocation and outplacement

Yes, all non-Georgia based employees who choose to relocate will be offered a package to help with their move and transition as well as other services. Employees who do not relocate will receive retention packages and will be eligible for severance and other outplacement benefits when the time comes.

Are you
shutting down
your operations
in other locations for good?

Our leases at other facilities are expiring at various times over the next several months and years. We will make decisions on each of those leases as they near expiration.

How many jobs will
you be adding to the Atlanta economy?

While we already maintain a presence in Alpharetta, downtown Atlanta and Kennesaw, we plan on adding around at least 863 new jobs to the Atlanta area.
